CAR REGISTRATION CHANGE

A Swedish-registered car can circulate in Spain for a maximum of 6 months. It is important that it does not receive a driving ban during this time. Spanish police have direct access to the transport authority and can see this immediately, and the car will be seized. It can be an expensive experience. SWEDISH OR SPANISH DRIVING LICENSE

Your Swedish driving license is valid until the expiration date. However, it’s not always easy to convince Spanish police of this. It takes about 3 months to exchange the Swedish driving license for a Spanish one, so it’s good to start the process early. It doesn’t hurt to exchange it sooner rather than later. If you have several years left on your Swedish driving license, those years will be transferred to the Spanish one.
